What this site is

FDSE.dev is an independent editorial project about Forward-Deployed Software Engineering. We publish a small set of canonical guides — role, skills, salary context, and interviews — plus narrower articles and two practical tools: a salary band estimator and an interview readiness check.

The site is written for engineers comparing the role, people preparing for interviews, and hiring managers who want a plain description of the work. It is not a job board and not a recruiting firm.

What we are not

• Not affiliated with Palantir, any defense contractor, or any employer that uses the FDSE title.
• Not a named practitioner's personal blog. Articles are signed FDSE.dev editors.
• Not a compensation survey. Salary figures are editorial bands, explained in our editorial policy.

How the site is organized

Long guides are the canonical pages. Blog posts cover one narrower angle and link back to the guide instead of repeating it. If two pages seem to overlap, start with the guide.

Editorial approach
